District 21 - Tim Outhit

Outhit recently won a by-election and just two weeks ago filled the seat vacated when councillor Gary Martin died earlier this year. He's so new he doesn't even have a city-issued cellphone yet.

Outhit will immediately have his plate full of weighty issues affecting his district---the proposed fast ferry to Bedford and associated changes to the Bedford waterfront, a looming political battle over sewage infrastructure arrangements and new development in the area, to name just a few.

A novice politician, Outhit is the executive director of NovaKnowledge and he's announced he won't give up that job. Moreover, Outhit is associated with the pro-development group Citizens for Halifax. The last thing we need is part-time councillor in the hands of big business, but that's evidently what we've got.

Still, Outhit hasn't had enough time to find his council legs, much less define himself politically or demonstrate how he will represent his constituency. He gets a pass on a grade this time around. But we're watching. (Grade last year: No grade---he wasn't on council.)

Grade: None Given Phone: 490-5679
