Devarrow (New Music 2016)

Inspired by a return to the east coast from Vancouver.

Last fall, Fleet-Foxy folk singer Devarrow (Graham Ereaux) moved to Halifax from Vancouver after a six-month tour. Originally from Moncton, he says the Halifax community is one of the main reasons he came back east, and it's been an inspiration to his music ever since. While he was away, he chronicled his adventures on a debut album,The Great Escape, recorded in a leaky apartment during a rainy winter. All 11 tracks are free to download. "Vancouver was a hard place for me to live," Ereaux says. "So the song 'Vancouver' describes how I was feeling, and 'Northern Lights' tells the story of why. Moving there was literally a great escape for me. I'm grateful for my time there, but moving back has been nothing but amazing." Ereaux is spending the summer tree-planting in rural BC, then he'll be back once again playing shows with his "energetic grungy folk. Or, to be less literal, long-haired folk."
