David Celia

Though based in Toronto and frequently touring southern Ontario, David Celia has also taken to the road in the UK and continental Europe over the last several years to mould his musical voice. The melodic-pop singer-songwriter plays with regular rhythm partners across the Atlantic and always comes home with plenty of material and memory to translate to album (he has two out). “Developments happen from playing live and then I try to recapture them later,” Celia says. Once back home and “tucked away” in the studio, he works in a mostly self-reliant mode. “I produce all my stuff, play most of the instruments.” But he’s joined by the likes of drummer Don Kerr, Bob Wiseman and Jenny Omnichord, another festival performer. Also on the bill, Mike Evin will sit in with Celia. A cross between Neil Finn, Mike O’Neill and Elliott Smith, Celia’s voice is welcome in the dead of winter. (SF)
