Re: “Is your bus driver stoned?

For all those Transit haters out there, unless you have all your facts about how things work and what drivers go through in a run of a day, the negative comments made are just a lot of hot air being posted without knowing the facts. It's easy to find negative in everyday life and comment with the "shoulda's woulda's and coulda's, we're all guilty of that to some extent. However, bashing drivers for decisions that Halifax City Council and the Management staff at Transit make is by far the rudest thing I ever seen or read.

The very people who PAID for and Put the newest Ad out don't even take transit. So, how can they effectively expect to see an increase in such a "dirty slogan" (as it is perceived by so many) if they themselves don't "doitonthebus"? After all, if you believe is something and want to increase profits, wouldn't you also be part of the solution and NOT the problem? Also, remember, Council and Transit Management use City vehicles (not the bus) to get to meetings, otherwise known as YOUR tax dollar funded Cars, Gas, Insurance and new purchases every couple of years. Money well wasted when there is a bus they could take.

So, before you jump down the backs of the Blue-collar workers ask Council and Transit Management why they don't use the very thing they PAID BIG money for.

Re: “BREAKING NEWS: Transit union files grievance over ferry cuts

The show is being run by the passengers that are paying for the service. Perhaps everything should be shut down in HRM after 10pm? It's evident BoGUS (nice handle by the way) that you don't use public transit or understand what the implications are. Listening to much of the lies coming for city hall is more your cup of tea.

Re: “Transit union rejects city's "final offer"

Let me get this right: Council bypassed the ATU508’s negotiation team insisting that the union executive take the city’s offer straight to the members for a vote without discussing the document with the negotiation team first. Now we are hearing that ‘one’ of the main reasons the drivers rejected the offer was because of the language used in the document. That if the executive had been able to discuss the ambiguous language used in the document. That language and wording could have been changed to ensure the rostering articles could not be misinterpreted and manipulated by the Management after the contract was ratified. It would then have been very likely that the members of ATU508 would have accepted their contract offer. Why did Council do something so stupid? And now people are talking about fire barrels. Never mind the fire barrels. Get council to correct the wording language in the contract, and get our buses back on the road

Re: “Transit union rejects city's "final offer"

For all those out there that think, and I use that term loosely, that Drivers are out for money, the one time payment of $1500 and the 9% pay increase over the period of a 5 year contract would of sealed the deal, then you would be correct. BUT the fact that the vote was 78% to reject the offer CONFIRMS it's NOT about money.....what more do people need to see how the city is NOT negotiating, they are dictating, the Take it or leave it strategy? GOOD GRIEF!!! The stupidity that comes from over opinionated, uninformed, readers amazes me.....
