Kinetic Studio wants you to think outside the tutu this weekend. "People sometimes have only one understanding of dance, like ballet. We're trying to help people see that this is a whole other kettle of fish," says Christopher Majka. The Studio Series will highlight both local and visiting dancers and choregraphers and their original pieces. As part of the showcase, Halifax's fairly new dance ensemble, The Jazz Collective, will present an interesting meld of visual art and performance art. In Interplay dancers will interact with projected images from artist Geordan Moore, who will be drawing live in collaboration with the performers. Also included in the lineup are local up and coming choreographer Sarah Douglas, presenting A Lumine Motus and Montreal based Kelly Keenan with her recently debuted Waypoints.
