Re: “How to destroy a political movement

Elizabeth May explained at the outset of the C-51 debate why she opposed that bill, for grotesquely expanding the activities of such extra-judicial unaccountable "disruptors".

"The act gives new powers to CSIS to act in Canada and overseas to "reduce threats," with virtually no limits. CSIS is specifically not allowed to cause death or bodily harm or "violate the sexual integrity" of anyone. The range of potential activities -- from break and enter, search and seizure, infiltration, monkey-wrenching, include powers to offer witnesses immunity from prosecution or from ever having to testify. There is no requirement that CSIS tell the RCMP what it is up to, and it is the RCMP that has been successfully countering plots and arresting suspects. Just imagine when the RCMP finds key witnesses have a "get out of jail free" card from CSIS. "

Or, alternatively, if the RCMP has hired the "disruptors", and those are indeed causing "death or bodily harm or "violate the sexual integrity"" of others via "gang rape" as Sewell claims to have done under RCMP sanction, exactly how is anyone supposed to find out?

Without independent oversight that has nothing to hide, the thin paper secret warrants issued without process by judges merely amount to, as May claims, "get out of jail free cards". And it appears that the RCMP, not CSIS, can continue under C-51 to do "dirty work" like Sewell's.

It's a damn shame that every Senator and MP did not read this article before voting on C-51. But it's not too late to make sure that every Supreme Court of Canada Justice does.

Re: “How to destroy a political movement

So now we know exactly what the Harper/Alward/SWN/Irving/RCMP side was doing in the NB shale gas controversy: Hiring known "disruptors" with records of gang rape & likely also murder. I wonder how many #MMIW actually disappeared due to such "disruptors"? That sure would explain why there is no public inquiry, wouldn't it? It'd finger the officials and their friends. Unless we #stopC51 in court, there will be thousands more such disruptors with no oversight and no accountability, since C-51 provides "get out of jail free cards" and even "get out of court cards" to RCMP/CSIS agents engaged in "disruption". An issue Elizabeth May explains in depth

Anyone interested in the New Brunswick conflict should read up on the legal and social issues involved, which were never covered by the corporate media, and not by the CBC or HuffPo either as far as I know. All of them were happy to broadcast Stephen Sewell's burned out police cars (set on fire after the protesters had been forcibly/violently dispersed) but not one covered the underlying legal issues:

That article has 41 credible references and was written by a firsthand or second hand witness to almost every important event in the "Shale Gas Rebellion", that being Willi Nolan.

Re: “Why Canada is better off with the monarchy

"Our allegiance is not to a passing politician, but to a democratic process that ensures that power is not to be used arbitrarily or through privilege. It reminds us no one is above the law."

I don't see this working at present, with Harper.

Perhaps if we had a native Crown chosen by the traditional native polities pre-Confederation...
