Cool nerdy stuff to do inside this summer 7 days a week

Because not all of us are built for the great outdoors.

The Coast is great at telling people how to get out and enjoy the great outdoors in the summer. But if it’s raining—or if raining down fire on thine enemies is generally more your cup of tea—we’ve still got you covered. There’s some nerdy stuff to do in Halifax every day of the week, so grab your pencils, decks and minis, and get ready to nerd out this summer.

Monday

A competitive Commander Magic the Gathering tournament is played at 6:30pm at the Deck Box.

Tuesday

Drop-in table top RPG night happens at the Board Game Cafe with start times of 6pm and 7pm.

Mini-painting and drop-in Warhammer night starts at 6:30pm at the Deck Box.

Wednesday

Flesh and Blood, the hero-based card game, is played at Monster Comics at 6pm.

Pokemon standard tournaments happen from 6:30-9:30 pm at the Deck Box.

At 6pm it’s Warmachine night at HFX games.

A Magic the Gathering modern tournament is played from 6:30-9:30 at the Deck Box.

Weekly casual Commander night at HFX games.

Friday

A Magic the Gathering standard tournament is played at Monster Comics at 6pm.

A Magic the Gathering standard tournament is also played at the Deck Box starting at 6:30pm.

Saturday

At 1pm on Saturdays beginning July 2, the Deck Box is starting up its masters series of tournaments. The games rotate; check this page for more details.

The Deck Box also runs Digimon tournaments at 7pm.

Sunday

Dungeons and Dragons is starting back up at the Deck Box in July.

Where else to get your nerd fixes

There are also some game and comics shops—like Best of Halifax Hall of Famer Strange Adventures, Cape and Cowl in Lower Sackville or Giant Robot Comics in Dartmouth—that have not yet restarted in-person programming due to COVID. But like every store hosting events, they also have everything you could ever need to nerd out this summer.
