When Halifax/Ottawa band Cold Warps released their self-titled album in 2009, they didn't try too hard. In fact, they barely tried at all. And when they followed up with an OMG-I'm-having-so-much-fun-in-the-summer-sun pop explosion---Endless Bummer, that is---they also weren't thinking too much about their sound. But now, after all the positive response to both albums, they are paying a little bit more attention. "We've been having kind of a hard time recreating that first tape, like the sound of it, because we didn't think about it at all," says singer Paul Hammond. "I think the last little while has been spent trying to figure out the formula that we're going for, and I feel like we've kind of gotten back to that now by just getting a little bit weirder but keeping some of the pop." And Slimer, Cold Warps' new seven-inch, boasts two tracks that are a whole lot darker than anything you might have heard from Endless Bummer.
