Coco et Co. finds its roots

Andrew Sisk's move to Montreal has helped him musically reconnect. "I have been recording a lot at home over the last year with my partner Miranda," writes Sisk from the heat wave city. "It's helped me get back to all the reasons I like making music." Sisk, creator of Halifax band Share, says he's always played in bands because he loves music, but "there is so much work involved in having a band that isn't creative that you end up spending a lot of time writing grants and whatnot more than making music." Sisk stresses that his new project, Coco et Co., has been a solely creative one so far. He says the band's music will be released at cocoetco.bandcamp.com, with the option of people paying what they'd like or leaving a donation. Working on a project that's not business driven means Sisk will be teaching this fall for a day job while he releases his music online, but he's solidly happy with what this means. "At this point in time, I can't imagine a better way to be living happily than cutting out all the things about the music industry that make no sense."
