Cirque du Soleil is a spectacle that doesn’t quite translate to the big screen. Worlds Away, directed by Andrew Adamson and produced by James Cameron, tells the story of a girl who falls for an aerialist—before they can be together, they venture through an odyssey of circus worlds. Cirque du Soleil is impressive, stretching the limits of what the human body and choreography can do. But, poor quality 3D (which looks fuzzy and sometimes doesn’t come together right) does not do this justice. While in theory, the idea of bringing making Cirque du Soleil accessible to a wider audience is a good idea, in practice it just doesn’t work well, and a thin plot looks even thinner when the magic of a live performance is absent. -Molly Segal
