Charity begins at home

To the editor,

Congratulations to the Ecology Action Centre for achieving the sustainable renovation of an older building here in Halifax ("Green roots," July 27). It sure gives others leadership to follow suit. Thanks to The Coast for profiling such a practical community service. It's quite amazing to think of the thousands of volunteer hours that went into the project—I think it says something positive about Halifax and Nova Scotia.

I know great generosity has been shown for this project so far, but apparently EAC still needs to raise $100,000 to complete it. Let's go, Nova Scotia. We can do it!

Survey Asks

Should council use the yet-to-be-finalized Centre Plan when debating new developments?

  • No, it doesn’t exist yet and is still likely to change
  • Yes, thousands of hours of work and consultation have gone into what’s already assembled
  • Maybe, it really depends on what’s being proposed by the developer
  • I don’t know what the Centre Plan is and do not wish to participate in this poll
