Chad Hatcher

Tunnels and Pathways

(HalfLife Records)
Classified protege Chad Hatcher's catchy debut screams lazy summertime patios, tall drinks and fat smokes. Fans of Classified's Hitch Hikin' Music will recognize Hatcher's Common-smooth vocal style from "All About You." An easygoing, light mix of R&B, reggae, soul and hip-hop, Hatcher is completely comfortable as an acoustic guitarist---even the whistling "Get Your Head Straight" takes from Simon and Garfunkel's "59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)." There are three kitsch-free "Campfire Stories" about sharing abandoned dope plants, eating donairs alfresco and the cult of Penhorn Mall.
