Cat on a Hot Tin Roof

The King’s Theatrical Society starts off 2010’s bill with a production of Tennessee Williams’ Pulitzer-winning play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Director and Dalhousie student Hannah Rittner says she chose to do this play at King’s because she’s particularly passionate about it, and felt it would be perfect timing. “I thought that the presence of three strong and well-developed male and female parts created a brilliant opportunity to showcase the talents of the King’s acting community,” says Rittner. The story of a Mississippi family unearthing the lies and deceit of its members will stay true to its 1950s original, though Rittner says the way the Theatrical Society’s actors have interpreted the characters will put a unique stamp on things. Step into the lives of Southern society for the play’s four-day run, starting Wednesday. –Holly Gordon
