CassBurr Designs’ neutral, clean lines and comfort appeal to all ages

  • Jennifer Murphy

Cassandra Burell of CassBurr Designs had a gift for fashion from the early age of six. She began sewing during her after-school program, but it wasn't until 14 that she realized a career as a fashion designer was a viable option. Her focus is on creating an aesthetic that appeals to everyone, from women in their 20s to those in their 70s and beyond: "The collection is inspired by luxury and comfort. I wanted to make something with clean lines, something neutral." Burrell says her pieces will fit into any woman's closet with ease, whether you're edgy, elegant or casual. Burrell graduated from the New Brunswick College of Craft and Design, where she thrived. "It was amazing," she says. She is excited about her first retail location (1574 Argyle Street, suite 5). The exposed brick gives the space a lot of charm and complements the simplicity of her creations. Although a native of Nova Scotia, Burrell spent some time in Vancouver, studying and taking in the feel of the province for inspiration. She describes her collection as a "little collaboration of both coasts of Canada."
