Carbon Arc: Vessel

Doors at 6:30. All money raised will be donated to the Halifax Sexual Health Centre, who are presenting this film with Carbon Arc for International Women’s Day. This documentary by Diana Whitten won the audience award at the SXSW Film Festival. The film was even granted a jury citation for “political courage.” This film follow Women on Waves, who fight for abortion rights and Rebecca Gompert, who created the group. Dr. Gompert takes a ship world wide, providing access to abortions for women with no other options. She is able to get around the obstacles, even teaching others how to perform their own abortions. Her group of activists learn to rely on themselves for that which they may otherwise be denied. You can watch the trailer for this documentary here.
