You have to pay a legal fee in Halifax. But whoa! The pedestrian bridge from the ferry terminal to the Law Courts building is blocked off. You can’t pay your fine, so you go to jail.

What’s wrong? You have to pay a legal fee in Halifax. But whoa! The pedestrian bridge from the ferry terminal to the Law Courts building is blocked off. You can’t pay your fine, so you go to jail.

Remarks: The wooden handrails on the bridge have rotted away, says Rideout. When they were taken down, cracks in the concrete were found and so now a full engineering study of the bridge has commenced. No Laval here, no siree. Tenders go out next week, and it’ll be up and running, er, sometime.

Who's Responsible?: Kevin Rideout, superintendent of construction services for transportation and public works for HRM, and winner of The Coast’s “longest job title” contest, 490-4821.
