Goo covered fire hydrant on Harvey Street

A reader submitted this photo of a fire hydrant on Harvey Street, and it’s all a-covered in goo. What manner of goo, we haven’t clue. But it’s pretty goo-ross. We decide to investigoo.

Remarks: Nobody wants to live beside a gooey fire hydrant. You probably wouldn’t want to live beside a gooey anything (think about it.) But a gooey hydrant seems particularly poor and potentially unsafe. An unidentified Water Commission employee said he would send a truck out to check on the problem—and, as we all know, trucks and goo are natural enemies. We’ll be watching.

Who's Responsible?: The Halifax Regional Water Commission Operations Department. 490-6940.
