Boxer the Horse

Would You Please (Collagen Rock)

Do sunshine dreams pour out of PEI’s water taps? The island’s small but mighty indie scene is consistently producing cheerful, up-tempo and deceivingly simple pop music. Like their damn catchy EP, The Late Show, the average song length on Boxer’s debut full-length barely brushes the three-minute mark, and they still wear their musical influences like a badge: the Kinks mixed with Pavement. Produced by Two Hours Traffic guitarist Alec O’Hanley and recorded in Halifax, the tight orchestration and sound remains indie-modern and not too reverent to the past. Slightly awkward and gawky, but always endearing.
