Valentine's pick-me-ups

Where to go and pick up on the dance floor when you're without a significant other.

Reflections Cabaret

Voted Best Pick Up Bar in last year's Best of Halifax poll, Reflections is going all out for V-day. Saturday brings Red: The Love Ball, a theme party where staff at the club "go nuts making the place look awesome with red decor, lighting and special effects, and you can go nuts with red clothes, red face paint, red feather boas---whatever you want." Cover's $9. Sunday, Elle Noir gives Valentine's love to the crowning of The King and Queen of Hearts Pageant---$6, 10pm.

5184 Sackville Street, 422-2957

Our brand-spanking-new sex survey says the Dome is the place Haligonians voted as best pick-up spot. While we couldn't get through to anyone at the Dome, Sundays are regularly SIN nights, with no cover for service industry staff---a big Valentine's heart for you all.

1726 Argyle Street, 422-6907

New Palace Cabaret

The Palace slid in with a silver for Best Pick Up Bar in the Best of Halifax poll, and while it's not open Sunday (gasp!), it is open for Ladies' Night on Saturday---only ladies get in before midnight. Free cover, so you can save money for that special one-night someone.

1721 Brunswick Street, 420-0015

Coconut Grove

Girl-ish Productions keeps the Saturday Valentine's party trend going with Heart-On---"A chocolate-covered night of great music, local performers and sloooow dances." With beats from DJ RO. Tickets available at Venus Envy for $6, $9 at the door.

1567 Grafton Street, 444-0887
