Re: “Halifax's transit strike is over

From what I understand, that 50 000 number is a little inflated. But, for arguments sake, let's use it.

So 50,000 divided by 52 weeks is roughly 961. By the time they go back to work Friday, they well have been of, without pay, for six weeks.

961x6 = 5,766. So, using 50 000 as the standard, they lost 5,766 on the picket line, but are only getting 4,000 as the bonus. Seems like a loss to me.

And, more to the point, 50 000 is not the salary. I believe it is less than that. I just wanted to prove your point wrong.

Re: “Get real Metro Transit!

Who's the idiot spending all that time and money for an education when "Anyone can get a Class 1 license"?

Re: “What do you think they're for???

If I see the brake lights on the car in front of me, I slow down.

So, what you are saying is that unless the drivers uses their turn signal, I should assume they are not slowing down?

I don't get it. As long as the brake lights are applied it should give you the signal something is happening.

Re: “Occupy What?

The vetrans fought for our freedoms. Right? We have the right under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms to assemble peacefully (section 2c, to be exact).

I do not support the occupy movement, but I do support their right to express their opinions and the right to assemble peacefully.

Again, is this not what the vetrans fought for?

Re: “A Certain Power Company…

This link is to the afridavit filed by the general manager of NewPage Port Hawkesbury in the Nova Scotia Supreme Court.

Paragraphs 36-44 outline the impact of the the proposed electricity increases on NewPage. While not the sole factor in requsting bankruptcy protection, it did aggravate the problem.

On pages 28-29, there is a copy of a letter and an invoice from NSPI demanding payment for $9,827,695.01.

And that is just for one month!

Re: “A Certain Power Company

"I hope some salty fog envelopes your mansions and causes a power outage just before your favorite TV show starts, you bastards." <---- I love it!

Seriously though, I 100% agree. How is it legal that they can jack up our rates in order to guarantee a profit for the shareholders.

And, how is it legal that, if NSPI wants to spend money on a project, the are not allowed to take the money from said profits and instead jack up our rates?

Why does the province not do something about this?

Re: “Indian Buffet Palace

Found this restaurant using the "Poynt" application on my Blackberry. I thought it was a mistake, so I searched it on The Coast. Lo and behold, it was a real restaurant. After reading the comments, my stomach was growling for food, but the hours posted here said the place was closed on Mondays. Lazy me, I didn't bother to call. I went last night and found out it was opened on Mondays. Oh well.

I dug right in and filled my plate with everything from the buffet. Then I did it again. Now, I was ready to die! The food was delicious. The staff is super friendly. The price, what do I say about the price? Only $9.99? Can this be for real? I have never, ever left a restaurant feeling this satisfied with change from a 20 dollar bill (including tip).

There is no doubt I will be back. Tonight probably, lol.

If you like Indian food, this is definetly the place to go.
