Can someone explain why a particular industry is entitled to tax credits and subsidies? Subsidies aren't uncommon for a variety of industries, but the voracious expression of entitlement is a curiosity. I am not sure why the government needs to reach in to my pocket to provide money to someone else's business venture. At some point, whether it's steel making, coal mining, pulp & paper, tire production, or movie making, business models need to demonstrate self reliance and sustainability. What is different about film making. Perhaps we need to cut the subsidies, lower the overall business tax rate and find the "winners". A $24 million tax credit program to generate $5.9 million (2014 DGC) in payroll doesn't really add up?
