You know it’s been a banner year when a Swedish big-box store tops the highlight reel with a fully furnished press conference featuring a slick bed set, meatballs and the mayor. Are you serious, Halifax? That’s rhetorical. You’re totally serious about the news that shook 2016: An IKEA is coming to town to make said town (and Dartmouth Crossing) a better, more stylish place. Slated to open in late 2017 and create 500 new jobs, IKEA broke ground this summer and is still kind of a massive hole in the ground. But you know what they say, time flies when you’re online shopping.
