“Staycation” for Coast readers means staying really, really close to home. The boardwalk is a short walk or bus or ferry trip away and provides, well, the heart of Halifax: the harbour. The Waterfront Development Corporation manages the Tall Ships Festival and sponsors the Busker Festival, and PEG Entertainment does a decent enough job managing the Busker Fest. It's all about the rentals of retail kiosks, feeding the gerbils that power the new free wifi and, importantly, keeping the place clean, but let’s be honest: the star of the show is the view. The view out towards the ocean, the view of McNabs and Georges Islands. The view of beautiful Dartmouth, the Brooklyn of the North.
