This summer was notable for Vibrategate at sex toy and education shop Venus Envy, when its vibrator advertisement was censored in the pages of *Metro*. “We got much more coverage and free advertising than we would have by just running ads in the newspaper,” says owner Maggie Haywood, who has worked in the store since 1999 and owned it since 2008. And congratulations to Haywood for being this year’s recipient of the Darlene Young Community Hero Award from The Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project “for her work in sex education, volunteering in our community and providing a safe space for queer expression.”
