Gold Winner Lost & Found

Silver Winner Elsie's Used Clothing

Bronze Winner Room 152

“Holy fucking shit! No way, no we didn’t!” Anya Nordeen’s excitement spills through the phone as she learns her second-hand clothing shop has won the gold. Offering a mix of things that are decidedly wearable yet still fun—and putting a focus on making sure many of the store’s offerings are gender-neutral—definitely contributes to Lost and Found’s success, she says. “It’s also honestly got a lot to do with our Instagram. I’m a bit older, so for so long I was resistant to all that stuff. But now I just try to share a caption on there that’s weird and relatable so people can be like ‘Oh, me too!’” Nordeen adds. While the Agricola Street store has been making Haligoians’ wardrobes fresher for years now, she adds that recent pop-ups with plus-sized curated thrifter The Bounty has made her more aware of inclusivity. “I never used to think of that stuff and just get small, medium and large because that’s what you do. But I have thin privilege…and it is deeply unfair. I’m just learning and trying to keep doing better.”
