A Vintage Row staple, Elsie’s consignment store radiates with quirk, charm and pizzazz. It’s like walking into a preserved living room from the 1920s, stocked with one-of-a-kind blouses, shirts, jackets, shoes and other fashion relics from the past. Owner Maureen Court says this year has been one her best yet. “There were so much negative energy swirling around the downtown over the last four or five years,” she says “But one thing that happened that kind of turned the tides, I would say it would have been the library.” Thanks to a revitalized bustle in the area, Elsie’s just had its best summer of 18 years in business.
