“Everything is made by hand, everything is from scratch and that’s the key,” says The Bicycle Thief’s co-owner Hakan Uluer, of the commitment to serving quality food. “We have a formula in our restaurants: we don’t have tons of storage room, we order everything at the end of the night and it comes in in the morning. Everything is made fresh every day. Risotto, we make it every day twice a day.” But it’s more than the food that helps the popular waterfront restaurant win top honours, clearly, as it takes home Best Atmosphere and Best Fine Dining, too. The Bike Thief is a package deal, and that takes hard work, says Uluer. “Sometimes you don’t even have time to stop and smell the roses, so this is great news to share with the team.”
