Stoo Metz is still surprised anytime they win Best Photographer (this is their fourth year running), but knows the secret to their success is simple: “I never saw myself as someone who was this business-y, but these days when you’re trying to be a full-time photographer, you just need to learn these things. There’s no excuse about not sending out emails.” When it comes to how the high-profile shutterbug—who’s been the official photographer for Halifax Pride and Neptune Theatre, amongst other gigs—gets the money shot? “I’d mostly say I’m a people photographer: The thing I enjoy the most is people and their expressions.”
