Danny Banfield’s been making live music happen at Freeman’s for four years, but his open jam history dates back much further. “The seed of it was at the old North End Pub, the North End Jam from 2005 to 2007 when the pub burnt down,” says Banfield, who then took his show on the road to the (now closed) Bedford location of the Split Crow before taking the stage at Freeman’s. There, on Thursday nights, he usually has a lineup of 10 or 12 musicians, folks who “want to play along and play musical games together,” says Banfield. “A large part of this group of people has been together for a long time. A lot of us are friends now. I’m so proud of it.”
