Best Newspaper Writer

Gold Winner Stephen Cooke

Silver Winner Bill Spurr

Bronze Winner Lezlie Lowe

The life of a newspaper writer is no picnic, trust me. There’s a lot of sitting around in your pajamas, staring at your cat for inspiration, cleaning kitchen cupboards, wrangling with PR flaks, battling carpal tunnel, finding hidden Cheezies in your hoodie and so forth. Despite all these workplace obstacles, Stephen Cooke is killing it, earning your vote for best newspaper writer in this year’s poll. “I just consider myself lucky to be able to write about what I love and encounter so many interesting and talented artists on a daily basis,” says Cooke. “To quote the famous poet Vidal Sassoon, if they don’t look good, I don’t look good.”
