“I think that we are really coming into our own as the local pub and that is a really amazing relationship we’re developing with that market there,” says George Christakos of Battery Park, a multi-winner in this year’s Best of Halifax and new addition to downtown Dartmouth. Since opening in late 2015, the beer bar and restaurant has been building on its menus, service and neighbourhood vibes. “My father Leo did an excellent job creating a warm, but exciting, space—it’s comfortable but there are modern touches to it as well. He framed it in his head that if Brooklyn Warehouse had a lounge, this would be it.” Christakos adds that Leo has another plan for the Park—hinting at the Dartmouth Ace Burger pop-ups its hosted in the past. “We’ve been getting a lot of requests for lunch,” he says, “and we’re starting to talk about it.”
