“Astronaut” is a slow-burning song devoid of the usual harmonies. Breagh MacKinnon takes the lead, singing of childhood dreams about going to space that died with age: “But I had a dream when I was seven/Secret door at the back of heaven/I woke up the second I walked in/And over time the dream got old and faded/And everything just gets so complicated.” Fitting that the accompanying clip features childhood home movies—rendered and assembled in crisp black and white by Jenni Welsh—of MacKinnon and bandmates Carleton Stone and Dylan Guthro. “Thanks for everyone who voted for us! We're currently wrapping up our last bit of touring for 2017,” says the trio, “and can't wait to come share some new music with everyone at our two Neptune Theatre shows in February.”
