Best Live Act

Joel Plaskett Emergency

Here’s what one voter has to say about the Joel Plaskett Emergency, which Reverb Readers’ Poll voters picked as the best live act in town: “I love seeing Joel play live because he has this positively magnetic stage presence. He should be a superstar, yet it’s possible to see him play at The Attic and be close enough to see the beads of sweat on his face, which is great. He has a totally relaxed but totally cool energy on stage, he really rocks out, the crowd goes wild, which always makes for a more fun live concert experience, he’s humble, engaging, funny, charming and he writes the kind of songs that are so awesome to belt out in the crowd when you’re feeling a bit cranky and disillusioned with the world.” So there. And you don’t think the rest of the band is too shabby either (see below).

Runner-up: Signal Hill
