Has there ever been a love as strong as the one Halifax feels for Rick Mercer? I think not. From his fast-paced, right-to-the-point streeters on 22 Minutes to the snake in the grass, talk-right-to-the-camera, conniving tv exec he plays on Made In Canada, Halifax has Mercer—or, rather, Mercer has Halifax. But wouldn’t it be great if he did more outrageous celebrity things, the way Michael Moriarty did when he first moved here? I mean, where’s the crazy behaviour, Rick? Where’s the night in the drunk tank? Where’s the action, the scandal, the grist for the rumour mill?
