Best Live Music Venue

The Marquee Club

It didn’t matter that on its last weekend as The Marquee Club, the downstairs washroom area smelled as if something furry died inside the walls, you still packed the bar to say goodbye to the coatcheck, the pizza and your favourite bouncers. The iconic live music venue went out on a sweet note with In-Flight Safety’s CD release, followed by the every-Haligonian-onstage remake of The Last Waltz. But if Charlotte’s Web taught us one lesson, it’s that everything dies and gets reborn again into new little spiders. So out of the Marquee’s web, we await the Paragon Theatre.

First runner up: The Seahorse Tavern
Second runner up: Gus’ Pub
