“I think it’s the sound, the service and the attention to detail during shows that makes us the best live music venue in the city,” says the Carleton’s owner Mike Campbell. “Credit there goes to Jon Cornwall and Stephanie Smith for making the place what it is: an awesome spot to see a performance of any kind.” And while Halifax poses challenges for small venue-owners, “it’s important that we’re here,” says Campbell, who books the Halifax Urban Folk Festival there as well. “My reward is being able to see so many killer artists in our little room. I’ve been in every venue in the country and the Carleton is my favourite place to see a show.”
