Best Indie Filmmaker

Andrea Dorfman

Andrea Dorfman is busy. In fact, the director of Parsley Days and Love that Boy is so busy we couldn’t reach her for an interview. But runner-up Colin MacKenzie has nothing but great things to say about her. “She’s an inspiration,” he says. “What’s so great about Andrea is that she works well with people. She’ll be the first to tell you that filmmaking is a collaborative effort.” Earlier this year Dorfman and MacKenzie worked together on the documentary Sluts, exploring the mythology of the high school slut. “We travelled across Canada and to San Francisco talking to sluts and slut experts.” The film will air on Life and the Independent Film Channel.

1st runner-up: Colin MacKenzie

2nd runner-up: Mark Palermo
