Best Member Of The Provincial Legislature

Maureen MacDonald

“I had a private member’s bill come into affect, that was very exciting,” says MacDonald, once again your favourite MLA. The Protection of Persons in Care Act was created to protect “people who are very often vulnerable, people with disabilities and elderly people with frail health. A process is now available to make sure they’re not being abused.” MacDonald has also signed up to be a citizen on patrol on the Halifax Common, though she lives in the Hydrostone, and is concerned about the future of inner city schools. With her recreational time she “continues to enjoy the independent art and theatre coming out of the north end” including Zuppa Circus and OneLight Theatre.

First runner up: Leonard Preyra, Halifax Citadel

Second runner up: Howard Epstein, Halifax Chebucto
