In January 2011, Heidi Rofe decided to quit working for other people and opened a salon, Beauty Starts Hair, right in her Fairview home, and “98 percent” of her clients followed. Obviously, the effort is paying off, as 2011 brought her the silver award in this category, and this year the gold. What makes Rofe so remarkable? “My claim to fame is custom colouring---I pretty much dream about colour at night,” she says. With nearly 20 years in the business, Rofe still sounds as excited about hair as someone just entering the field, an enthusiasm she attributes to “my fabulous clients.”
