“We’re very proud of our pizza and many things we do, but I’d go on the record saying delivery isn’t our strength,” says Sal’s owner Chris Cuddihy, clearly a believer that honesty is the best policy. “I have to assume people are voting for the product, not the delivery itself.” It’s a theory that makes a ton of sense, since his pizza pies were voted the best by you 10-plus times in a row before being inducted into our Hall of Fame. But when it comes to Sal’s rep for long delivery wait times, the explanation is simple—quality comes before speed. Cuddihy says they won’t even send more than two deliveries out with a driver because they want the pies to be as close to perfect as possible when they arrive at your doorstep.
