Buskers Festival

They say you can’t get anything for free, but for some random pocket change, you might get a mime or a juggler to perform for you at the Halifax International Busker Festival. Buskers aren’t for everyone---there isn’t a technical name for a busker-phobia, but if you suffer from a fear of statues or people pretending they’re one (Automatonophobia), or fear of laughter (Geliophobia) or a fear of music (Melophobia), you might want to stay away from the waterfront during the festival. 1869 Upper Water, 429-6164

1st runners-up Atlantic Jazz Festival (festival); Alfresco Film Festo (free)

2nd runners-up Atlantic Film Festival (festival); Shakespeare by the Sea (free)
