“I was always messing in the kitchen when I was a kid,” says La Cave’s pastry chef Andrew Beck. “My grandmother was a pastry chef, so maybe it’s my calling.” Beck is known for creations such as the popular Valley Mud Cheesecake, and the Chocolate Tower Pate. Is chocolate an aphrodisiac? “Absolutely,” says Beck. “I get a lot of marriage proposals. I go home and tell my wife and she does that Marge Simpson growl.”
