Best Cop

Winner: Steve Harnish

Today marks officer Harnish’s eighth anniversary as a Halifax Regional Police officer. And look what a nice anniversary present he’s been given. If you’re looking for officer Harnish to congratulate him, you’ll find him patrolling central division—that’s downtown Halifax to you and I.

Runner-up: Larry Shortt Recently-retired constable Larry Shortt was one of the key players in last summer’s “Savage Love” saga. His attempts to persuade Coast advertisers to pull their support from the paper on account of Dan Savage’s potty mouth brought The Coast plenty of publicity, and for this, Coast readers lauded him.
