Best Classical Artist / Group

Gold Winner Symphony Nova Scotia

Silver Winner Bedford Brass Quintet

Bronze Winner Halifax Music Co-op

The 37 musicians who comprise Symphony Nova Scotia can surely jam on the classics, but they’re often called upon to play out into more contemporary waters, from the annual Halifax Pop Explosion collab (this year it was Mo Kenney), big-time visitors like Dan Mangan and Buck 65 and events like last weekend’s Sci-Fi Symphony. The rest of this season includes the annual favourite The Nutcracker, a David Myles Christmas show and a tribute to Billy Joel and Elton John. The variety obviously keeps Haligonians of all tastes entertained. “We are honoured to win this award and to be recognized for our contribution to Nova Scotia’s music scene,” says SNS CEO Christopher Wilkinson. “We love what we do and nothing makes us happier than seeing our audiences respond to our performances. Thank you Halifax!”
