UPDATE: I should have known that there were clever people behind this great idea. I heard from Garry Neill Kennedy: "The Starfish windows were filled with images by students in my spring term Printed Matter Class. The idea came from Noah Logan, one of the students in the class and another student Keith McLeod did the sizing. Some of the funding came from HRM and deep, deep discounts from Wade Atlantic and of course access to windows by Rob Landry at Starfish. We are all very pleased with the work.
Last week, the first Starfish Properties Student Art Award was presented to MFA grad Amelie Proulx. But that's not the only place the downtown developer's putting art. Quietly, the Starfish logo paper—which was covering a large number of empty Barrington windows—was replaced with local photography. A smart move, considering how many people associate that underwater creature with the dismantlement of the once-busy downtown street.
