Believe me, I have never lived there, but those towers have been infested with bed bugs, roaches and mice for many many many years. I do not foresee the problem ever going away with the way it is dealt with.. What needs to happen is to have all 3 towers emptied and have the towers completely fumigated. It is pointless to do one apartment, as the little critters will scurry to the next apt..

Actually some people do, however, it is very frustrating that these people complain constantly about the state of the roads and then when HARD WORKING people are trying to fix them they still ocmplain! I realize that most people look at these guys in their trucks and think hmmm, doesn't he have a great job, just sitting there all day, don't have to do anything physical? Well not the case, they have a very stressful job and then people like OP does nothing but complain that they are doing their jobs, come on get a life. Not everyone in the world can sit around and not work for a living like some of the people in South End Halifax where the bitching is coming from!

The reasons they sit there with the trucks running are: 1) yes for air conditioning in the summer, do you know how hot it gets in those trucks? 2) they could and do get called at any time and have to dump/leave etc. 3) for the most part starting the trucks, especially the older ones takes time and more fuel! Not sure if any of you have ever fueled up a dump truck, but if you did you know how much they take ($200 + at a time) and they will try to preserve as much as possible. They have a job to do, and unless any of you have actually done their jobs, don't complain. And no walking up to them and fake coughing will not work, may make them laugh, but that's about it.. they have enough to concentrate on like stupid people walking / pulling out in front of them, they are not going to worry about silly little whiners..

I agree with the not closing school idea, however, I also know that if school wasn't canceled the situation could have gotten worse. I have a daughter who attends Cole Harbour High as a grade 10 student and she and her friends were terrified. The best way to handle that situation is to suspend school for the remainder of the day and let those involved cool down and return to rational thinking.

I am a mother of 4 children (now teens) I take them and have always taken my kids everywhere I go if they want to go, even when they were little tots, I took them with me, and yes this includes to the grocery store, I have been a single parent for most of my kids lives and in the earlier years I couldn't always afford a sitter to run out and grab milk or whatever it was I needed at the time.
I am in a much different position today and even so I would still take my kids regardless of who it iritated, my belief is that you need to spend time with your children regardless of how trivial it is. Even going to the grocery store if you are with your kids, you are teaching them the morals of being a family and spending quality time together. As I said earlier My kids are now all teens and they don't insist on going out with friends hanging around malls getting into trouble or any such thing, however, I know of parents who always had a sitter for their kid and now their kids are the ones that are getting into trouble..
If parents want to take their screaming kids to the store it's their right to do so!!!!

I don't think calling these women idiots is really necessary. Some women are unable to leave for whatever reason. Most are extremely scared by the threat of violence against them if they attempt to leave and for some women who do attempt to leave the abuse gets much more severe.
Think before calling someone an idiot.

As someone who was abused by a husband, I am shocked that some people still have the same belief that because a woman stays, she is at fault. This is absolutely NOT the case, when a man you are supposed to love keeps telling you that no one will ever want you, that you have no where to go, or possibly even threatening to kill them if they leave, You do beleive it, trust me on that.. and it is hard to break free. But once you do, you will realize how much better your life is and will be!!! Please leave him for the sake of your life/health and for all the people who love and care about you!
