Armoured doesn't hold up

This heist movie is too shallow to steal your attention for long.

Columbus Short plays an armoured truck guard with a pant-load of topical, sympathy-baiting circumstances: He’s an Iraq war vet with a house in foreclosure, a mountain of medical bills stemming from his parents’ fatal illnesses and a commitment to take care of his wayward kid brother. So, obviously, you see how a guy like that may be cajoled by his slippery fellow guards---including Matt Dillon and Jean Reno---into stealing 42 million dollars, but not fully committed to the scheme. Dillon and co.’s journey from slick hustlers to hell-bent sociopaths and Short’s own arc from compromise to rectitude are too short and the scenario is too limited. Armored is skillful, but doesn’t boast the taut ethical and practical binds that make great heist movies.
