Arkells
Jackson Square
Dine Alone Records
For any fan of bluesy-rock/soul-pop, the Arkells are here with their debut album. While comparisons to other Canadian acts and talk of their musical influences is inevitable, Jackson Square establishes Arkells as a band to watch. A great listen from start to finish, the only problem is you’re left wanting more. The album will satisfy anyone who wants to crank it up, with tracks like “Deadlines” and “Oh, The Boss Is Coming!” For those who want a somewhat mellower listen, check out “The Choir” and “I’m Not The Sun.” But it’s on tracks like “Tragic Flaw” and “The Ballad of Hugo Chavez” where the band shines the brightest.
