April March | Music | Halifax, Nova Scotia | THE COAST

Published October 09, 2003.April MarchTriggers (PIAS) Somewhere between Björk and Serge Gainsberg, April March has been on the outside of the outside for years. While she has made a career out of producing glossy French synth pop, in actuality she is about as French as a bombshell in Iraq. The California native’s recent release Triggers follows in her usual subdued quasi-electro manner. The album’s peak is “The Life of The Party,” a synth- drenched piece that would sound at home in the oddest moments of a David Lynch film. While the songs never really find any truly glowing mom-ents of inspiration, the album as a whole is a worthwhile experience. —Matt Charlton
