April 17 Record Store Day round-up: CD Heaven

It’s been three years since Candace Redden took over CD Heaven (118 Wyse Road, 464-0123)---though the store has been at its location in the Dartmouth Shopping Centre for 15 years---and in that time the store has hosted 200 all-ages, free in-store shows. That’s going to continue, she says, especially since she has an agreement with Earache Records (Napalm Death, Evile) to host their acts should they come through town. Redden is in contact with a small army of online sellers, and her mandate is to special order anything that is hard to find, from “an action figure of Gene Simmons to rare vinyl, anything and everything to do with music.” She can also bring in guitars, strings, picks and drum-related equipment, and is expanding her vinyl section to keep up with the record resurgence. All that, plus CD Heaven is also a Ticket Pro outlet.
